DESCRIPTION:There are not many solo concertos for mandolin - but Avi Avital is making sure that there are more and more. in 2023, he premiered a work by the Italian Giovanni Sollima, which he is now also presenting in Zurich. Minimalist and folk music inspirations characterise this music, as do, of course, the virtuoso possibilities of the soloist. Conductor Alondra de la Parra will conduct Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 and the "Sinfonia impossibile" by her Mexican compatriot Arturo Márquez. The latter translates the major social issues of the present day into extremely imaginative music.
