The event will be hosted in English.
The closing concert will be streamed live on YouTube, and the audience will be able to vote for the audience favourite immediately after the concert.
‘Rugby’! In Arthur Honegger’s most sporting orchestral work, you feel as though you’re right there in the stadium; each team is given its own theme, and the notes fly through the hall just as fast as the ball across the pitch. And there’s a competitive atmosphere throughout the evening: after all, the Conductor’s Academy’s closing concert is (also) about who will win the audience prize and a place at Paavo Järvi’s Pärnu Music Festival. The decision will be made at the end of the concert – after the up-and-coming conductors have demonstrated their talents not only in Honegger’s ‘Rugby’, but also in works by Strauss, Brahms and yet another Strauss.
