Orchestra lunch concert with Paavo Järvi
Paavo Järvi once said that he considered Georges Bizet to be "a genuine, vastly underestimated genius". And he was not referring to the opera hit "Carmen", but to the orchestral music. Now he presents the "Roma" Symphony, which Bizet worked on for no less than eleven years, and combines it with the suite "Pelléas et Mélisande" from the incidental music of the same name by Gabriel Fauré. Even before Debussy, Fauré had set the fragile happiness of this pair of lovers to music - highly atmospheric and so tragic in the finale that this movement was also played at Fauré's funeral.
