DESCRIPTION:On the one hand, Arvo Pärt is celebrated as a star of contemporary music; on the other, he is surrounded by the aura of a recluse. All wrong, says Paavo Järvi, who knows the composer very well: Pärt is warm-hearted, also very funny, "he loves puns and quirky associations". He recently turned 90; reason enough for Järvi and his Estonian Festival Orchestra to honour him with an entire programme in Zurich. Five works will be performed, including the famous "Tabula rasa".
