This concert features a premiere, a second - and two popular and famous works. Lukas Sternath, a student of Igor Levit and hailed by the press as the "great hope of the international pianist scene", plays Schumann's Piano Concerto in his first appearance with the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich. And Tugan Sokhiev, who was invited back as soon as possible after his successful debut two years ago, will also conduct Berlioz' "Sinfonie fantastique": a work that thrives on an ear-catching "fixed idea" and an extraordinarily rich palette of tonal colours.
