This concert features a premiere, a second - and two popular and famous works. Lukas Sternath, a student of Igor Levit and hailed by the press as the "great hope of the international pianist scene", plays Schumann's Piano Concerto in his first appearance with the Tonhalle- Orchester Zürich. And Tugan Sokhiev, who was invited back as soon as possible after his successful debut two years ago, will also conduct Berlioz' "Sinfonie fantastique": a work that thrives on an ear-catching "fixed idea" and an extraordinarily rich palette of tonal colours.
