Jugend Sinfonieorchester Zürich
Young talents making music with our musicians and renowned soloists results in a lasting exchange.
The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra (JSOZ) was founded in 1987 by Howard Griffiths. Spurred on by successful concerts and enthusiastic reviews, the purely string ensemble quickly developed into a "proper" symphony orchestra. Today it has around 80 members aged between 14 and 24. Members of the JSOZ are young, budding musicians in training - in the gifted and talented programme, in pre-college or already studying music.
As an official "Junior Music Partner" of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the JSOZ works closely with our musicians. And David Bruchez-Lalli, principal trombonist with the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, conducts its concerts.
In the 2026/27 season, the JSOZ can be heard in no fewer than four events: at the traditional Christmas carol concert, in two of its own orchestral programmes - and at tonhalleAIR in the Münsterhof.
