Sibelius' Symphony No. 5 is a work for connoisseurs, says Paavo Järvi, "but perhaps that's why it's also one for everyone". In conversation with presenter Tanya König, he will explain what connects him to this work. Perhaps he will also mention that this music has found its way into pop music in very different ways: the swan call motif has been quoted by bands such as The Murmaids, The First Class and Play People. It is therefore fitting that, as always at tonhalleCRUSH, some orchestral musicians also switch to a completely different style after the Sibelius Symphony in the foyer. The motto for the second part this time is "classic meets funk fusion".
