Film Music Concerts

There are two film symphony concerts to enjoy in the 2024/25 season.

How decisively music shapes films becomes particularly clear when an orchestra plays live. And even more so when the same film can be experienced with different soundtracks: at the 12th International Film Competition, for example, a short film will be shown with three different scores - and a top-class jury will award one of them the "Golden Eye". The second film symphony concert is dedicated to the legendary Ennio Morricone; the cult film "Spiel mir das Lied von Tod" is just one of many for which the Oscar-winning composer created unforgettable melodies and sounds.

The concerts will be performed by the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, conducted by film music expert Frank Strobel. So, don’t delay when you hear from the Tonhalle: «I’m also a cinema.»
