A soloist can sometimes be two soloists in one – at least, when his name is Wayne Marshall. On the one hand, the British musician is a much-sought-after pianist with a particular fondness for – and an equally remarkable talent for – Gershwin’s music. On the other hand, he is an imaginative improviser on the organ. In this concert, he can be seen in both roles. In addition, Paavo Järvi will conduct Bryce Dessner’s grand romantic-minimalist orchestral work ‘Mari’, which he premiered at the Tonhalle Maag in 2021. And there’s also Rachmaninoff’s ‘Symphonic Dances’. Indeed, a concert can sometimes be four concerts in one!
